Water purification and pollution charges for companies

The amount of the Water purification charge and pollution charge for companies depend on the number of pollution units the company is allocated.

A pollution unit represents the amount of water pollution. Companies that pollute more water pay for more pollution units. They therefore pay more water purification or pollution charges.

The water board yearly sets the rate per pollution unit.

How many pollution units does my company pay for?

Your company's water usage determines the number of pollution units you must pay for:

Cubic meters Number of pollution units
Up to 44 1
44 to 217 3
218 or more GBLT calculates the number of pollution units. We calculate the amount of water used. The type of business also makes a difference. In special cases we also test the wastewater for the calculation. More information can be found in the Water Board Act.

Provisional tax assessment for companies

In some cases companies receive a provisional tax assessment. This depends on the type of business. You receive a provisional tax assessment at the start of a year. Is the amount of water used in the year established? Then you will receive the final tax assessment. We will probably ask you to file a digital return of your water use.

Relocating

Does your company relocate within the area of the Water Board?
Then the tax assessment relocates with you. Next year you will receive the tax assessment at the new address.

Does your company relocate to the area of another water board?
Then you must pay the tax up to the date of relocation. We assess the amount of water used during that period. Is the amount equal to the tax assessment? Than you will not get a refund.
