Consequences for your Water Board taxes
If you relocate, you may be entitled to a refund from us. This depends on your situation and the type of taxes you have paid.
Are you relocating within the Water Board's catchment area?
The following taxes will move with you:
- Water purification charge/water pollution charge;
- Water system charge for residents;
- Water system charge for built-up land, unbuilt land and nature.
In other words, you will not get any money back for these taxes. Next year you will receive a new tax assessment for the new address.
Are you selling your house before you relocate? If you are, you will still be responsible for the full amount of the tax assessment. However, the notary will often settle part of the taxes with the new owner.
Are you relocating to another Water Board's catchment area?
Then we will partially reduce the taxes. You will have to pay the taxes up to the day you relocate. GBLT will send you a letter to that effect. Have you already paid for the entire year? In that case, GBLT will refund part of the amount. This only applies to the water purification charge and the water pollution tax.
You will not get a refund for the various water system charges. On January 1st you always receive an assessment for the entire year. Do you sell your house after January 1st? You will still have to pay the full amount. However, the notary will often settle some of the taxes with the new owner.
Consequences for your municipal taxes
Did you live in Bunschoten, Dalfsen, Dronten, Leusden, Nijkerk, Ommen or Zwolle? If so, you also paid municipal taxes to GBLT. Below you can read about the consequences of your relocation on your municipal taxes.
