Direct debit after a death

When someone dies, a sad period begins. As a surviving relative you have a lot to organise. This page tells you what you have to organise in case of an active direct debit.

No one remains at the address of the deceased

Has the deceased given GBLT consent for payment in instalments by direct debit? Then GBLT will continue to debit the bank account. After adjusting the tax assessment, the instalment amount will be lower.

Sometimes the bank account is blocked by the bank after a death. In that case GBLT cannot debit the amount. We will send you a letter to inform you.

Would you like to pay the outstanding amount in one go? This can be done by transferring the amount to GBLT bank account NL82 DEUT 0319 8046 15 in Zwolle. Please quote the assessment number. You will find this number on your assessment under "kenmerk" or "omschrijving".

Someone remains at the address of the deceased

This person will automatically receive a tax assessment from GBLT.

Did the deceased authorise GBLT for payment in instalments by direct debit? This authorisation does not apply to the tax assessments in the name of the person who continues to live at the address. This person must give GBLT consent himself. Even when payments were made from a joint account.

You can organise payment in instalments in 2 ways:

  1. Digitally in Mijn Loket (Dutch only).
  2. By phone, call 088-064 55 55. We will send you a direct debit consent form.

Someone remains at the address and there is still an amount to be paid

Sometimes there is still a portion of the deceased person's tax assessment to be paid. Has the deceased given GBLT consent for payment in instalments by direct debit? Then GBLT will continue to debit the bank account.

Sometimes the bank account is blocked by the bank after a death. In that case GBLT cannot debit the amount. We will send you a letter to inform you.

Has the person remains at the address given GBLT conent for direct debit in instalments? Then GBLT will also debit an amount from the bank account for this tax assessment.

GBLT will then debit 2 amounts from the bank account each month.
